STARS of NOVEMBER

Brody is a star of room 119.  He loves to read, draw, and has a creative mind!

Sage is also a star of room 119.  She loves Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, reading, and playing with friends. 

Eli is also a star of room 119. Eli is very creative, loves to read, and is kind to all of his friends.  Keep up the great work students of room 119.

We have also been showing our work as we divide. 



We have also used base ten blocks and divide the number out as shown below.




The circle method is where students use numbers instead of base ten blocks to divide numbers. 

The last method we have used is the long division using the standard algorithm.

MATH-Division

We have started long division in Topic 5 in math.  One of the strategies we use in partial quotients.  

SCIENCE FICTION WRITING

Our next unit in writing is a science fiction story.  This week students started their rough draft with a strong beginning.  They used a planning chart to create the setting, characters, events that lead to a problem and a solution.  We can't wait to share our stories with you.

Personal Narrative Writing

Students have been writing a personal narrative.  We are very excited to share these at conferences.
