Math Night at Hawthorne

Our first Title One Math Night on November 18th was a small turn out. It was held at Hawthorne Elementary school. We had 25 students K-3 from all three elementary schools attend. We enjoyed eating pizza with the families, giving presentations about the GOLD Standards and sharing math bags with the families. These bags had math games and manipulative for the families to take and use at home.

We are looking forward to the next Math Night that will be at Sibley in the spring.

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving break!

Pictures of student projects

Our Kindergarten students made patterns with pumpkins.

We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and the students made caterpillars with the numbers 1 through 10.

Last week our 3rd grade students read a story about the pumpkin life cycle. Here are their storyboards they made.

Our New Addition to Title One

We are excited to have a new Title One Para, Amy Johnson, with us this year. Mrs. Johnson is married to Clayton Johnson, who works as an MRLA leader for the USDA-NRCS.  Amy is new to the area but comes to Sibley with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Animal Science) and a two year degree as a surgical technologist.  Amy will be working with students in Title 1 and with us each day.  Her primary focus will be providing additional time and one-on-one interventions to students. " The reason I took this job is to help children with their education." said Mrs. Johnson.  Welcome to Sibley Elementary School and Title One.
