Today was CrAzY hair day. We took part in the homecoming fun all week!

Welcome Back 4th Graders

We have just finished our second week of school.  We have been very busy learning our schedule, setting the routines, and getting to know each other better.  I hope to have an updated post within the week including pictures of our classroom, friends, and many of the links working very soon. 4th Grade Reading Powers

Starting next week, we will be learning Reading Powers! Reading Powers are comprehension Strategies.

I will be implementing these in our classroom. These strategies provide students with the tools to become more thoughtful and meaningful readers as well as how to become“meta-cognitive” or aware of their thinking while they read.

Authentic children’s literature specifically chosen to help teach and practice each of the five Reading Powers: connect, question, visualize, infer and transform. These books are used for modeling, guiding and supporting students, enabling them to successfully focus on the strategy and acquire a deeper understanding of their thinking.

It is that time of the year again and I am getting ready to see your smiling faces at Sibley!  Hope your summer was fun, fantastic, and full of experiences to share with me when you come back in the Fall.
