New Scholastic Coupons

Partial Products-Multiply
In math we have been learning how to multiply multi-digit numbers. Many of the students know how to use the tradition method, however we are learning the partial product method. This strategy has a strong focus on place value, which plays a critical role in the development of mental and written computation strategies, while providing students with the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of how the standard algorithms work.
Partial Product: Each part of one factor is then multiplied by each part of the other factor, and finally, all of the resulting partial products are added together. I have added a link to our math curriculum websites to show as a model.

Updates for the New Year
Game
Night
Sibley
game night is scheduled for January 10th here at Sibley at 6pm.
There will be pizza and fun games to play. Hope you all can join us.
Homework
You will
start to see a couple of math study links come home each week. The study link is a review of a lesson that
was already taught in class. I want the students to be prepared for the
homework that lies ahead in the following grades. This will help teach responsibility by
completing the homework on time and also teaching them independence. Please let
me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Prairie Fire Theater
Auditions are going be to be held January 27th and practice will be that following week. More information will come home today about Prairie Fire.
